#PDX Greek Festival photos says, mmmm, good! Bakalava, Gyros, Dancing, Fun! Sunday…

I went for baklava, but was sidetracked by the gyros. Couldn’t pass it up. So had lunch and watch some really colorful greek dancers entertain the audience. Parking was a nighmare, but fortunately it was sunny and warm, so walking several blocks wasn’t a problem. The baklava was sooo good I had to bring some home. Will remember the festival all week.

Pdx Marathon cruised right thru the hood. We were ready. Cheering, live music, and sun! Proof is in the Pics.

Every year, early in the morning, the sounds of the Portland Marathon plunk right past my door in the University Park neighborhood. Such tradition we have for this race. As a non-runner, I can only cheer and celebrate those who push forward to the end. We’re located about 6 miles from the finish, and see the runners move in both directions — to the St. John’s Bridge and return.

One neighbor in the middle of my block hires a small brass band each year to add to the merry spirit of the event. Last, year I discovered that a neighbor in the next block is a member of a wonderful brass band – The Power Pep Band. Total fun, and a great way to start the day. Look and listen (photos now, movies to follow).

Oh yes, the “Go Dad” sign is held by Mom and son from out of the area. This family came came all the way from San Francisco to cheer on their favorite runner, dad.

Last Weekend’s Polish Festival was the start of fall fun! Take a peek at these photos.

North Portland is home to one of the only Polish Church’s in the city. Each year they host a wonderful Polish Festival. Colorful costumes, dancing, and incredible food! My favorite turned out to be potato pancakes with applesauce. In fact, lots of people were after these…the line stretched out quite far.
